CMA blog update 

This is just an update on the status of the CMA weblog. We are right now redesigning our entire web site, and the weblog is going to be included in the new website at www.collegemedia.org. The new web site should be up and running by the middle of January.

Newspaper Business & Advertising Workshop--part 1
This intensive workshop will cover the latest developments in newspaper advertising and business procedures. Topics such as knowing your product, campaigns and presentations, market research, business systems, selling skills, advertising acceptability and customer service will be covered.(Preregistration and additional fee required. Digital Photography Workshop, Part I
In the quagmire of digital imaging, knowing LPI from DPI from PPI or a megapixel from a TIFF file can be daunting. In this demonstration and hands-on session, photographers will discuss everything from (1) how to know what kind of digital camera or scanner to buy to (2) how to get good scans of prints or negatives to (3) how to improve the reproduction quality of your digital images. Bring a laptop loaded with Photoshop 7. And bring some of your own digital images on CD to "fix" as part of the demonstration.covered.(Preregistration and additional fee required. Coaching Writers, Part I
How to teach student reporters to be better writers is a question most advisers and student editors face regardless of the size of their publication staff or campuses. John Wicklein, writing coach for The Washington Post, will head this add-on workshop. Some of the issues that Wicklein will discuss include coaching techniques, writing critiques, finding holes in stories, localizing news and copy editing. (Preregistration and additional fee required. The board of directors of CMA voted today to censure Kansas State University for the reassignment of media adviser Ron Johnson.
